What does a Big Data Analyst do?
A Big Data Analyst examines large data streams generated by heterogeneous sources, such as transactions, web & social interactions, notifications from IoT devices etc. to gain a strategic advantage in decision-making processes. Its activity is aimed at obtaining a forecast advantage both in identifying new opportunities and in managing risks.
Data analysis is the process of extracting meaning from raw data using scientific models, hypotheses and theories. Data analysis technologies and techniques transform raw data, organize and shape it to draw conclusions and to identify different patterns. Data analysis techniques are used extensively in business to enable companies to make more informed business decisions.
MODULE 1 | Managing Data with SQL
SQL is the most used programming language for the management of relational databases in the world: knowing its mechanisms is essential for starting to work with data. In fact, by making it possible to organize, manipulate and display the data inside a database in a personalized way, SQL allows users to focus only on the elements they are interested in.
The SQL language allows users to work on two fronts: programming and data processing on one side, and data visualization on the other. In fact, thanks to SQL it is possible not only to process millions of data rows in a few seconds, but also to manage the database and to analyze data in a specific and customizable way while preserving it.
MODULE 2 | Business Intelligence with Excel & PowerBI
Excel is the most widely used spreadsheet software in the world, with an undisputed leadership over its more limiting and less flexible direct competitors. With Excel it is possible to import, visualize, manipulate and share data, but very few know how to take full advantage of its potential to obtain strategic Business Intelligence analysis aimed at business development.
This module will allow participants to acquire operational skills in the main technologies used within Excel such as: Power Pivot to create data models, define relations and perform calculations with large data sets; DAX (Data Analysis Expression) advanced language for dynamic data analysis; Power Query to locate, connect, combine and refine data sources in order to meet analysis needs.
With Power BI you will learn how to create effective reports and dashboards, as well as how to transform unrelated data sources into a set of coherent, visually appealing and interactive information that can be shared among users.
MODULE 3 | Data Visualization with Tableau
Tableau is one of the most powerful and fastest evolving Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization tools. Visualizing data with Tableau allows complex ideas to be communicated in a simple and compelling way. Besides, its expressive visualization makes it possible to go beyond static graphs to create interactive and multifaceted visualizations that can be explored in every dimension. These features make Tableau the definitive tool for the development of creative and effective data-driven strategies that every decision-maker needs.
MODULE 4 | Data Science with Python
Data represents the basis of innovation, but their true value derives from the information that can be acquired through predictive models that the new data science translates in trends and insights.
In this module, you will learn to make effective decision-making strategies with Python, which due to its versatility and reliability has become one of the most used and most popular programming languages in the field of data science. More specifically, you will learn how to program with Python from the basics and how to use its libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn) for many different purposes.
