Geeks Academy was founded to bridge the ever-widening skills gap and the consequent shortage of professional profiles in the fields of CYBERSECURITY & CLOUD, GAMING & VIRTUAL REALITY, BLOCKCHAIN & CODING, DATA SCIENCE, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.
It aims to train digital talents and get them ready to engage with an increasingly dynamic and competitive job market, yet its vision is broad and deeply human: create a global community of geeks determined to turn their passion into a profession, their talent into a job.
ICT skills gap
The latest technology boom has created new professional profiles and new jobs, yet it also generated a lack of qualified ICT professionals.
In this moment, in fact, universities produce elite academics, but no "vertical" profiles ready to enter the labour market.
This gap will tend to increase in the coming years as the ICT sector is extremely dynamic, so much so that university courses will already be obsolete at the graduation ceremony.
Geeks Academy courses were developed to speed up the learning process and focus directly on CYBERSECURITY & CLOUD, GAMING & VIRTUAL REALITY, BLOCKCHAIN & CODING, DATA SCIENCE, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.
Thanks to our Industry Advisory Council, we ensure that the contents of our courses are always up-to-date and suitable to meet the growing demand of specialised companies.
The structure of Geeks Academy courses reflects our aim to help our students learn fast, so they will be able to get into the labour market as Junior Experts.
We believe that the development of creativity and soft skills, even while studying technical disciplines, is of the uttermost importance, as it allows for better work performances in the modern digital economy.
Trust the figures
The Geeks Academy courses are designed to offer an adequate response to the growing demands of companies working in the ICT sector. By 2023, the European Union will invest €4.9 billion to promote the development and adoption of blockchain technologies. According to the latest estimates, the added business value of the blockchain will increase from $176 billion in 2025 to over $3 trillion by 2030, with an exponential growth.
Specifically, the cyber security market is now worth over $130 billion, a number that will grow vertically in the coming years. 3.13 million euros is the average cost of a Data Breach for Italian companies, and 279 million euros is the average time it takes before you realize it.
In 2028 the number of European Data Workers will rise to 13.4 million, and the value of the Big Data Analytics Market will be close to $40.5 billion. To date, the value of the Italian data market is estimated at around 2 billion euros.
The use of artificial intelligence in companies will have a significant impact, increasing productivity by up to 40% and radically changing the way work is done. In the UK alone, for example, the use of AI could generate an increase of $814 billion in the UK economy.
The gaming sector is experiencing a period of enormous growth, and in 2019 the value of this market reached 152 billion dollars. The fastest growing sector in 2019 was mobile gaming (games on smartphones and tablets), which saw a growth of over 10% and is estimated to get up to $95.4 billion in 2022, representing almost half the value of the entire gaming market.
The skills gap in the ICT world continues to be a problem, especially in Italy, where programmers are one of the most sought after professional figures by companies, registering a gap of almost 45 thousand professionals.
